WIA provides subsidized residential housing for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities.
WEST-IN-ARMS, INC.
Residents enjoy single occupancy bedrooms with congregate living and dining areas. Specially equipped vans provide transportation for social and recreational activities. Staff prepares three meals daily and are available for emergencies at all times.
Who Qualifies
Persons applying for residence must meet the federal definition of handicapped. This includes physical disabilities as well as developmental disabilities. Applications must be over 18 years of age and be capable of managing personal care independently or with the assistance of a formal attendant care program.
Rent Subsidy
VVest-In-Arms contracts with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide housing assistance for those persons whose income meets HUD guidelines for supplementation. The amount of subsidy differs depending on income and will be determined following a review of personal income.
Application Process
All applications are placed on a waiting list in the order they are received.
Applicants are contacted as openings occur for financial verification and a personal interview.
